In her presentation, "Insights, Influences, & Inspirations", Leilani Joy Purvis, a fiber artist and quilter, will share a selection of her Traditional & Modern Quilts, Fabric Collages, and Animal Textile Art pieces. She will delve into the stories and creative processes behind her work, offering insights into her diverse life experiences and how they have shaped her art.
Leilani's journey into quilting began in 2006, but it wasn't until 2017 that she discovered the techniques of fabric collage, which sparked her creative passion. Since then, she has explored various fiber art techniques, including free motion quilting, thread painting, and dry needle felting. Through her presentation, she hopes to inspire others to embark on their own quilting journeys and encourage experimentation with new techniques and materials.
Drawing on her wide-ranging background--spanning professional dance, work in the motorcycling community, Disneyland, Revlon, and roles in diverse industries--Leilani will also discuss how these experiences have influenced both her art and her approach to creating her art. She has been an active teacher and presenter since 2019, leading popular classes like "Thread Play", "Curved Piecing and Improvisational Design", and "Fiber Arts", and teaching others to incorporate creative embellishments into their quilting and fiber art projects. Leilani's aim is for the presentation to be both insightful and inspirational, leaving attendees motivated to explore and deepen their own creative art practices.
With a focus on creativity and joy, Leilani invites participants to join her in celebrating the art of quilting, fiber arts and the endless possibilities they offer.

I'm very honored to be the Featured Fiber Artist for the Viewpoint Quilters during their annual Quilt Show! The Quilters Point of View group, which I'm a proud member, will be showing quilts, fiber arts, charity quilts, dolls, etc.
I'll be sharing 25 pieces, and telling the stories of inspiration, explaining the techniques, suggesting some tips and tricks, and showing some up close (overhead camera shots) of my thread painting. I will have my latest piece "Barn Owl" to share with you all! Wait until you see this piece that started as a Tsukineko Ink painting, then progressed into a full fabric collage, including an old tree in a beautiful Fall setting.
